Bookface is a collection of staff and resident portraits with their favorite books. The exhibition is presented in conjunction with the Sketchbook Project: Library event. The photographs will be on view in the gallery until the opening of Art and Shelter’s Spring Exhibition. You can also view the images in the online gallery.

April 10 to April 11 2010

In collaboration with Art House Gallery in Brooklyn NY, Art and Shelter presents a global collection of sketchbooks for your reading pleasure at our Silver Lake Location.

The library is open April 10th from 9am to 9pm, and April 11th from 12pm to 4pm. The library is located at 2737 W Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles.

A reception and viewing of favorite sketches selected by visitors will be held on Saturday April 10th from 6pm to 9pm.

Kin, curated by Kurt Simonson, opens on November 7th 2009. The night begins with a dinner discussion at 6pm followed by an opening reception at 7pm.

Kin offers the viewer the opportunity to explore the meaning of home and family through the eyes of contemporary photographers. Kin gives us entry into the artists particular experience and a starting point for conversation about the most important relationships and geography of our lives.

In coordination with Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibition’s 10K Art Walk, artist and designer Bettina Hubby worked with residents at The Salvation Army Alegria to create two fire hydrant quilts. The finished quilts are on display in Alegria’s dinning room.
